With no projects announced in the near future, it seems that Natalie is going to focus in the coming months on promoting her soccer team, Angel City F.C. and “May December”, the film directed by Todd Haynes, ahead of the awards season in the fall…
-First of all, Angel City will host the Angel City Equity Summit at Sydney’s Opera House on August 4. Programmed more as a meeting of the minds and powerful discussion than a typical conference format, Angel City co-founders Natalie Portman, Julie Uhrman, and Kara Nortman and 100 leaders from sport, tech, entertainment, and business, will gather to share experiences, discuss pathways toward pay equity, and participate in candid conversations for guests to bring home to make an impact.
Confirmed guests include Portman, Uhrman, and Nortman, as well as FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia COO Jane Fernandez, US soccer legend Julie Foudy, CEO of Hello Sunshine, Sarah Harden, Head of Legacy for Football Australia, Sarah Walsh, USWNT Players Association Executive Director Becca Roux, former FIFA Executive Committee member Moya Dodd.
-A few days later, also in August, Natalie is set to join rugby sensation Ruby Tui, former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and Fifa general secretary Fatma Samoura for a forum about sports, business, culture, and society during the Fifa Women’s World Cup.
EQUALIZE: The State of Play will be a discussion on gender equity for wāhine, taking place at Auckland’s Aotea Centre on August 14.
-Finally, Natalie will be one of the guests of the 49th edition of the Deauville American Film Festival which will be held from September 1 to 10, 2023 in France. Natalie will receive a Deauville Talent Award and she will also present a preview of May December by Todd Haynes.
