VOX LUX is a psychedelic mind-f—k of a movie — dealing with school shootings, terrorism, drug abuse, celebrity mania, loss of privacy, “commodification of everything,” etc. Portman has some balls on her to take on/pull off such an unusual character. Someone will buy this shortly.

“Only really good actors love long takes.” Brady Corbet to Natalie Portman at VOX LUX Q&A. The movie’s a wild hodgepodge of Nicolas Roeg/David Fincher pastiche & an electrifying Portman at its center, with so much on its mind it leaves you reeling. The finale is fireworks. #TIFF pic.twitter.com/RT3srb0ICy

VOX LUX was a wild trip. Muscular filmmaking. Natalie Portman tremendous, as she so often is. She’ll be a strong contender for her fourth #Oscar nod if she goes in for supporting actress, rather than best actress, given the field this year. #TIFF18 pic.twitter.com/xa4oIAsdgQ
