StudioCanal has signed up to co-finance (with Film4) Natalie’s upcoming film, Macbeth, and will distribute the film in France, Germany and the UK. They are heading to Cannes to tie up more international distribution deals but no word yet who will distribute in the US.

We also know that the film will only begin official pre-production later this year with view to shoot early in 2014.

The full Hollywood Reporter piece has a quote mentioning that the film will (attempt) “to bring contemporary themes to an iconic story”. While the producers also mention modern themes and an “energetic story”, and call Natalie and Fassbender two of the finest actors of their generation.
