The swan is still soaring. Black Swan did even better than the early estimates projected and now looks to be in the vicinity of $8.2 million for the weekend. It has the second highest per theatre average of the top 10 films and is now over $61 million.

What more can be said at this point? It’s just been a monumentally successful film in every regard. I had high hopes for the film but they’ve been completely exceeded. Now I just need to, you know, actually SEE the damn film!

On a parting note, it’s great to see a Coens film topping the box office and other prestige flicks like The Fighter and The Kings Speech pulling in the dollars.
