Paris Je T’aime actually did pretty well for itself. It made $5 million in the states and another $12 overseas, which is not bad going for a bunch of short films. It also helped that, if memory serves, they released the film around Valentines Day.
The weekend actuals are in for “NY, I Love You” and it made $381k on 119 screens. The average is only $3200 per screen, which is not too great for a film playing on so few screens and that has just opened.
Perhaps not too surprising as there hasn’t been too much of a publicity push, with none of the big stars even showing up for the premiere. I can’t see NY doing anything like as well as Paris did, which is a shame because I know a lot of you would love to check it out if given the chance.
Just going to have to wait for DVD :-/
