Ok, it goes a little something like this. A Candian filmmaker called John Greyson, withdrew his short film from TIFF because he thought it was poor judgement for the festival to have a Tel-Aviv showcase for Israeli films when it wasn’t that long ago that Israel was tearing Gaza a new asshole.
The specific accusation being that the TIFF director was wined and dined (hopefully not sixty-nined as well) by Israel and only films that shed a positive light on Israel were included in the showcase.
A number of celebrities, including Danny Glover, Naomi Klein and Jane Fonda joined Greyson in protest.
Now it would seem there is a protest…to the protest, led by another Candian filmmaker Elle Flanders, who thinks that anti-semitism and censorship is at play.
Amongst the list of celebrities supporting that position are the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jerry Seinfeld and *drum roll please* Natalie Portman.
