This should be another big update so I’m gonna jump right into it.
The V publicity tour is in full swing with Nat now in Japan. Could your country be next? Could mine? Ok, definitely not mine but maybe yours. Here are some pics of her arriving. Thanks to Amo.
Mart downloaded the Berlinale stream and has been trying to make reasonable sized downloads for you guys. The first two are now up and ready.
27mb Press Conference – Only the Nat answers
10mb Photocall
There’s still another vid, which we should have for you by tomorrow.
Sandra was kind enough to send in some Hi Res pics from the V after party. Melody isn’t online right now so…you can either wait till tomorrow for the gallery to go up. Or you can go to this link and keep changing the number till 021.jpg.
Updating at its laziest. Booya!
This is a real “do it yourself” kinda update. If you head over here you’ll find two streaming clips of an someone trying to interview Nat while on the set of V. If you can’t get them to work, fear not, we’ll have them on the site for download tomorrow. Thanks to Amidoll.
Jen wanted to send the heads up that Nat will be on Entertainment Tonight…errr…tonight. I’m not sure if its the clips from the previous item but tune in to be safe. Oh, and happy birthday Jen.
Yesterday I mentioned that Jutze attended the V premiere and saw the film. I asked him for a little report and here it is.
I saw it last night, along with Cooper, Aleph, Robert (of np.de) and Robert’s brother. I don’t have the time and energy to write a full report, but well, the movie was cool; it reminded me of The Professional, a little bit. I guess it’s no spoiler to say it’s rather plot-driven (as I had hoped) and not just an action-flick (as I had feared). There some to be some gaps where stuff from the book is omitted (according to Aleph), but the movie works, anyway. To sum it up: I’ll watch it again in March.
As for the evening: There was a certain atmosphere with the lights and the stars and the fans and the icy temperature. Cooper and I hadn’t talked to the others about our plans (neither had they), so it was funny that we met quite early in front of the red carpet waiting in line for the doors to open.
We had a splendid time, to say the least.
Lucky bastards.
AICN has a couple more reviews of the film and this time they’re not wildly positive. Both reviews have some spoilers so if you’re trying to stay away from details just know that both guys felt the graphic novel was better than the film, which they thought had some fantastic parts (which were sections untouched from the novel) but some weak areas as well (mostly where the script deviated from the novel).
Portman on the other hand gives us a performance much like the film. Moments of such power where you almost forget it was performance, crossed with scenes of almost uncomfortable and wooden dialogue. Again, I’m not a huge fan of the script so this could just be that, but there was something about her accent at times that just didn’t seem to work.
The defense calls Nimbuschick 😉
Also, Moriaty’s review is back up. I have no idea why it was taken down in the first place.
There’s a German review of the film over here as well as some more nice pics from the premiere. Thanks to Sebastian.
It’s about time for a new poll so get voting.
And here are the results of the last poll.
So, what did YOU think of Free Zone?
I haven’t seen it yet 84.36% (685 votes)
Disappointing 4.68% (38 votes)
A masterpiece 3.69% (30 votes)
Her worst film 3.57% (29 votes)
Very thought provoking 3.45% (28 votes)
Interesting, all the people who have seen the film seem evenly divided amongst the other options. I’ll definitely run the poll again, once the film is widely available on DVD.
Speaking of Free Zone, according to this site it is set for limited release on April 7th…although it just seems to be for New York, which doesn’t surprise me at all. Thanks to Gerardo.
Kyle found a site that mentions that Mr Magorium will be shooting in Toronto from March 27 through till June 6. Canadians, don’t let us down.
Whew, it’s going to be a crazy couple of months. I’ve got some other items but I think they can wait for tomorrow. Till then.
